Magic base combo |Drugstore edit

I have been in need to switch up my base makeup for a little while now, I needed a set of products that I could rely on in times of need, a base that would stay put all day long. I took to my local Boots to checkout their offerings and bought myself a few corkers.

First off it’s the Rimmel Fix and Perfect  Primer, £6.99, a basic but decent product which I don’t think gets quite enough recognition. It applies as any good primer should, gliding across the skin helping to form a slick canvas for my foundation. A pea sized amount is plenty per use and it does everything I need it to. No frills, but a reliable, affordable product which I will ensure to keep in my stash from now on.

Foundation next. I have used this one before but somehow like it even more this time round. It’s the Rimmel 25 hour Lasting Finish Foundation , £7.99. It’s heavy duty, full coverage and the shade ‘Ivory’ suits my dull wintery complexion (sad but true). It doesn’t budge until you say so which is such a relief on days where you can’t reapply.

Finally we have the Seventeen ‘Phwoar paint’ concealer in ‘Fair’, £5.49. This is industrial strength under eye concealer and a total gem. It doesn’t dry out or cake even on my dehydrated skin. It blends nicely and feels super lightweight for the coverage. I apply it by hand -sandwiching my foundation (a little before, a little after). It’s nice to have an alternative to my old faithful Collection, Lasting Perfection concealer , £4.19, in my make up bag and it’s now a firm favourite.

This magic little combo of products lasted me from 9:30 ish am to the early hours of the next morning. It was so nice to not have to worry about my makeup falling off of my face throughout the day of my sisters wedding. I did not reapply a single drop of make up and I did not powder.

Early hours the next morning

What are your trusted base products? Do you have any drugstore gems that you rely on?

Have a lovely day 🙂

Hammy x
