I never thought I’d be this person, I own a bloody Filofax for Petes sake?! If you know me, you’ll find that fact hard to get your head around. I’m typically quite messy, laid back, perhaps the most disorganised girl you are ever likely to meet. I tend to go with the flow in most aspects of my life, leaving everything to the last minute and certainly never planning anything. The polar opposite of my sister who really always has had her life planned out.
A few months ago I stumbled across ‘The life-changing magic of tidying’ a book by Marie Kondo. I must admit the title made me giggle, I thought if there was one book in existence that wasn’t for me -this was it. Saying that something made me read a few reviews on Amazon -I guess I was kinda intrigued and ended up adding it to my basket and checking that bad boy out.
I can’t quite work out what it is about this book that makes you want to get your shit together, but it does. The afternoon after starting the book I’d sorted through every single item of my clothing and had the no longer needed pile bagged in to 3 categories – Charity, To sell, and To bin. It took a good few hours but I did it. Life felt good.
I can kinda see how tidying and organising your life a bit is actually therapeutic, it helps your brain rest. One of the main reasons that I decided to buy a planner was so that I could note things down and empty them from my head. It helps a lot actually. I’m still figuring out how to use my Filofax most effectively but am enjoying the process. I also have a note book which I use for lists or daily tasks for work, it really helps in organising my time.
I’m currently obsessed with ‘Planner setup’ videos on YouTube. I find them so satisfying – tell me I’m not alone here?
